The EMN meeting began in 2008 as a small workshop held at a traditional villa in Orland, Florida. Since then we have organized five successful workshops under the theme of Energy, Materials and Nanotechnology. In honor of the 2008 Orlando conference, these workshops were grouped under a conference series entitled “Villa Conference”. The Villa Conference series have grown beyond the traditional villa setting and have had continued success in 2009 (St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands), 2010 (Santorini, Greece), 2011 (Las Vegas, Nevada) and 2012 (Orlando, Florida), 2013(Houston).
The 2017 conference will take place at Orlando during the week of December 4th-8th. Orlando is a city in the U.S. state of Florida, and the county seat of Orange County. Located in Central Florida, it is the center of the Orlando metropolitan area. The City of Orlando is nicknamed “The City Beautiful” and its symbol is the fountain at Lake Eola. Orlando is also known as “The Theme Park Capital of the World” and in 2014 its tourist attractions and events drew more than 62 million visitors. In this friendly and stimulating place, we will create a dynamic platform where scientists and engineers focusing on various issues pertaining to current and emerging technologies in the areas of clean energy, complex oxide materials, environmental research, metamaterials, iron pnictide superconductors, topological insulators, and nanotechnology can converse, discuss, debate and share knowledge and ideas about prospective directions and approaches.
